The second season of The Big Bang Theory is even more comical than the first.

When four brains and one blonde get together, anything can happen. This hysterical sitcom stars Johnny Galecki as Leonard, Jim Parsons as Sheldon, Simon Helberg as Howard, and Kunal Nayyar as Rajesh, the physicists who lack social graces, and Kaley Cuoco as Penny, a commoner.

This season has the cast growing closer and forming their own family, so to speak. The geeks and Penny have learned to help each other and care for each other.

Some of the memorable episodes in season two include the one where Penny gets addicted to an online game, the one where Raj is named in People’s “The 30 under 30 to Watch,” the one where Howard loses the Mars Rover somewhere in a ditch on Mars, the one where Leonard’s mother (played by Christine Baranski) comes to visit and prefers Sheldon to her own son, and nineteen more to make up the complete 23 episodes of the season.

Sheldon has been a break-out character, and Jim Parsons who plays him has been highlighted and awarded for his impressive performance. The Television Critics Association gave Parsons the 2009 TCA Award for “Individual Achievement in Comedy” and the show itself was given the “Outstanding Achievement in Comedy” award.

The Big Bang Theory DVD Bonus Features

Bonus Features include a feature on the real-life physicist who consults on the show to make sure what the characters are saying is accurate. This man is brilliant and also quite funny himself. Everything scientific that is written on the boards on the show, and everything scientific that is said by the actors is accurate. The writers write the script then leave blank the parts that need the scientific dialogue. The real physicist then comes in and supplies the accurate words for the writers and actors.

Another bonus feature focuses on the relationship of the cast and crew. They have bonded on and off screen.

And for some additional laughs, the gag reel is hysterical.

Even though these characters are geeks, they are adorable and their social vulnerabilities make them sweet and funny. One at a time is comical, but when you put the four of them together they provide viewers with innumerable laugh-out-loud moments.

Penny adds some grounding to the group. While they’re off in the stratosphere with their IQs, she is a normal want-to-be actress/waitress who has come to love them for the people they are. And at times, she gets to show off some of the intelligence that has rubbed off on her from them.
