Check out a list of DVDs that prove girls kick butt. Looking for action? Comedy? Drama? Witty and intelligent banter? Everything you need to feed a great TV addiction!

Girls kick butt! That’s right girls rock and here are a few TV shows on DVD that prove it. For a rainy day, or just plain old lazy days, here are a few show selections for when you need a boost of girl power.

Alias: Agent Sydney Bristow, played brilliantly by Jennifer Garner, is a double agent working for the CIA to bring down SD6, a terrorist cell claiming to be an underground division of the CIA. This series is chalk full of twisting plots, fantastic chemistry between the cast, not to mention fabulous outfits and wigs! You could tune in for Garner’s disguises alone and it’d be worth it. Make sure you clear out your schedule when you start watching these discs. The end of each show leaves such a cliff hanger it’s nearly impossible not to start the next episode.

Wonderfalls: This quirky comedy was only on a short-lived season, but the available episodes are fresh and definitely not run of the mill. Jaye Tyler, played by Caroline Dhavernas, is a recent college grad who just doesn’t know her place in the world. With no desire to get a “real job” Jaye works retail at a souvenir shop in Niagara Falls until one day a plastic lion speaks to her. Jaye assumes she’s gone insane, but the voices just won’t stop until she begrudgingly does their bidding, usually getting her into a load of trouble or pushing her into funny and touching situations. Each episode is inventive, engaging and plain fun to watch.

Tru Calling: Starring Eliza Dushku as Tru Davies, this series is about a girl who is spoken to by the dead. Tru rewinds and relives days when those who die untimely deaths ask for help. Tru has easy access to many a corpse since the show is set in the city morgue. Despite this the show manages to escape being morbid due largely to the resident doctor Davis, played by Zach Galifianakis, who adds humor and heart. The real highlights of this series are the relationships between Tru and her brother Harrison as well as Davis. This show is fast paced and action packed. Be warned the show was canceled in the middle of the second season, but don’t let that keep you from getting addicted.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Whether it’s the glib and witty writing of Buffy the Vampire Slayer that sucks you in, or its walloping action scenes, there’s something for everyone to love. Buffy has become a cult classic with fans known for their extreme loyalty and adoration of all things Joss Whedon (creator of the Buffy-verse). Buffy, played by Sarah Michelle Gellar, is the chosen one, a slayer of vampires and all things that go bump in the night. By day she’s a student at Sunnydale High School, by night she is the girl who stalks cemeteries. First aired in 1997, the dialogue still packs a humorous punch while the romance rears its head through the action scenes. There are seven seasons to get addicted to.

Dead Like Me: This series follows George (Ellen Muth) a young girl whose life comes to a horrible end when a burning toilet seat falls from space and smashes her to bits. Instead of ascending to a better place George is forced into a dead end job, literally! She becomes a reaper whose task it is to gather souls before people die. Along with a group of fellow reapers, including Mandy Patinkin and a fabulous cast of others, George tries to figure out how to live life, as death.
