Murder She Wrote, ER Top List of New Dramas Available

July is a big month for emergency workers. New dramatic television series DVD releases on July 7 and 14 deal with all forms of crime and medicine.
There’s an elderly woman much shrewder than she looks solving murder mysteries (Murder She Wrote), first responders going on dangerous missions (Third Watch), a team of thieves working on the right side of the law to plan elaborate traps (Leverage), and hospital emergency room staff struggling to save the lives of their patients.

Murder She Wrote: The Complete Tenth Season
In this long-running series (from 1984-1996) mystery writer Jessica Fletcher (Angela Lansbury) investigates crimes that seem to follow her wherever she goes. Season ten includes guest appearances by Mickey Rooney, Morgan Fairchild, George Segal, and Tippi Hedren. The series won two Emmy Awards and was nominated for twelve others. Lansbury won four Golden Globe Awards for Best Performance by an Actress in a TV Series – Drama.

Third Watch: The Complete Second Season
First responders including New York City police, firefighters, and paramedics working the 3:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. shift are ready to jump into action in this drama that ran from 1999 through 2005. In order to look more authentic, Third Watch was shot on location all around New York City including the Bronx, Central Park, Queens, Coney Island, and Long Island. The series won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Sound Editing for a Series in 2000, and won a variety of other awards for acting, directing, and sound editing.

Season eleven episodes include a fraternity boy shot with an arrow and a blind woman with her animal guide.
